The Best Green Wedding Services in Toronto
They say:
"The best green wedding services in Toronto might soon have a little more competition. In a shaky economy and during a surge in environmental awareness, more couples are opting for sustainable and do-it-yourself celebrations. Let's face it - "green" is more than a passing craze ... Shops and services catering to eco-minded brides and grooms are popping up across the city faster than you can say, I do!"
Listed are dresses, caterers, event planner, Mill Street brewery, tux rentals, flowers and venues. Glad to see eco|stems - But would have liked to see a broader range of suppliers. The comments, as usual, offer some other ideas - like The Bride's Project, which we've discussed before, and a new 'locavore/guerilla organic' flower project: my lucious backyard, Etsy, but we would have liked to have seen more vintage, both grooms and brides, or the new or the new Green Wedding Boutique(recycled gowns), and more 'outside the box' ideas
Also missing - vegan caterers, and lots more green wedding sites. Think I'll blog about that...

Vegan / Vegetarian Catering directories
Cross posted from Ethicalceremonies -
Lots to think about in Vegetarian catering - from wines to food to garnishes to "anchovy-free Worchester sauce" ...
Here are few resources: HappyCow It's a nice directory, but rather limited. If you know any vegan cooks or caterers, suggest they enquire about adding their profiles. You have to email the directory for details, so not sure if there is a cost for listing. Lots of CA, some Florida, and a Torontonian...
Veg.ca is a Canadian directory. Coded for Veggie/ Vegan, and localized.
Lots of UK sources, of course. Veggies.org is a place to start

Locavore Wedding Catering
It's a trend! [If you've been out of the locavore loop - this means food produced and marketed within 100 miles of your abode.] See The 100 Miles Diet.
Some weddings are now 'locavorian', and some caterers advertise they can do this, especially in Canada. See the website Les Louises.
But you have to do some research, of course, and there are all sorts of websites and services IN PRODUCTION for local resources for organic food, but right now, it's completely dependent upon YOUR LOCALITY. Your organic food store will know the nearest suppliers of local food, of course. Try typing "Locavore" and your city in Google, and you'll find locavore clubs and contacts.
as in:
Locavore's Guide to New York City
Locavore.ca, Canadian blog.

Here is a "local food wheel" for San Francisco, California. With debts to the Farmer's Alamanac of course.
